In order to address the economic recession that has hit nonprofits particularly hard, we have made prudent operating cuts to reduce overall expenses without affecting the overall quality of our program. Giant Steps' priority is to continue to offer its services to riders regardless of financial circumstance. We charge reduced rates for all riders. While the real cost of offering a 60-minute therapeutic lesson is $180, we ask for less than 30% of the total cost ($50), and offer additional sliding scale scholarships to our families who are struggling with financial challenges. On average, 50 percent of our riders receive additional scholarships, with 37 percent receiving services at no cost. By subsidizing our program costs and offering a scholarship program, we ensure that no one is turned away from our services for lack of means.
